University High School senior Madison Croissant is executing a 5K race for her senior project to raise money for Women to Women. Madison talks about her decision to choose the organization her mother serves on the board and the planning process, which has taken her three years. Madison has been doing 5Ks with her father since 2014 and decided that a 5K race was a low-cost, high-reward way to raise money for Women to Women.

The race will take place on March 25th at the University High School. There is a $22 entry fee due before March 23rd, and the race takes place on the sidewalks, marked by volunteers at every significant street crossing. An award ceremony for the top three female and male finishers will be held at the end of the race.

Madison has been spreading the word about the 5K race through posters at her school and a local running shop called Altitude Running. She also advertised the race at a scrapbooking event at UNC and raised $155. Madison has faced obstacles with small details, such as food, water, and bathrooms, but hopes for good weather and turnout at the race.

Journalism and Media Studies students at The University of Northern Colorado created this video for Madison as part of their Introduction to Video Production course.
