Bears Gate is an organization that appreciates medieval arts, sciences and combat through research and active club participation.
Anyone interested can join and enjoy the best parts of pre-renaissance history. Club activities include fencing, armored combat, archery tournaments and scroll-making.
The organization runs under The Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA).
“Our group in Colorado has a couple of different groups that are in different schools, and so we are a representative for the Society for Creative Anachronisms,” said Skye Sutherlin, club president.“They host a lot of different events like dancing events, feasts and big camping events.”
Members frequently attend these SCA events. The Outlands Crown Tournament ,which occured over the past weekend at Southeast Weld County Fairgrounds, had club members test their combatant skills.
The event site included space for camping, RV camping, a large hall for those who wish to sleep indoors, games, archery, an art gallery, the princess protector tourney and war practice.
