With the Big Sky tournament approaching fast, the University of Northern Colorado's women’s basketball team looked to finish on a high note to close out the three-game home stand. However, the game didn’t end exactly how the team would’ve liked to.

The Bears lost to Northern Arizona by a final score of 61-67. It was a fast start in the first two quarters as UNC shot over 40% as a team. Going into the first half, the Bears had commanded a two-point lead with no signs of stopping.

It was a different story for the second half as the Bears struggled shooting the ball at 33% and shooting 20% from the three point-line. Northern Arizona turned another gear in the start of the second half, shooting close to 58% as a team.

Senior Hannah Simental noted the Lumberjacks ways of scoring the ball.

“NAU had really great scoring in transition," she said. "It was a physical game."

Once the Lumberjacks began their scoring barrage, the Bears' lead would quickly give away and get chopped wide open. Even with a small comeback, they weren’t able to recover from the deficit.

UNC is now the number five seed in the Big Sky Tournament which will begin this week.
