For the month of March, Greeley-Evans District Six is celebrating Youth Art Month by hosting their eighth annunal Art Walk.
The event showcases artwork created by hundred of students within the district all the way from kindergarden through twelfth grade along with over 50 teachers that facilitate art, dance and music. There is also artwork from UNC and Aims students being displayed.
"I love to see the kids in a different capacity outside of their classroom," said Danielle Eggers, an art teacher at Billie Martinez Elementary School. "I get to do something really engaging with them and see them shine in a different light."
Most of the artwork is being displayed throughout a wide range of local businesses from restaurants to oddity stores in downtown Greeley.
Marie Flores, owner of Girl Talk, is hosting Billie Martinez for the second year in a row. She chose to have every student from the school be recognized in the art walk since one of her daughters was left out of the event last year.
"I like the Art Walk because being able to see the kids come in with their faces lighting up to see their artwork was posted," Flores said. "Seeing them take pictures and it really becoming a core memory for the students is great."
Many of the displays will remain up throughout March, which allows ample time for the community and families to view the artwork along with supporting the businesses.
