The Asian Pacific American Student Services celebrated the Lunar New Year at the University Center Grand Ballroom and everyone was invited.

The Lunar New Year is the most important holiday in China and is also known as the Spring Festival.

The lineup included a lion dance group performance and a children’s carnival. The Guiding Mountain Lion & Dragon Association from Northglenn captivated the audience with their energetic dance.

The lion dance is often performed alongside the music of beating drums, cymbals, and gongs, with each style of lion dance having their unique beat and tempo.

The fundamental movements of the Chinese lion dance originate from martial arts; many lion dance troupes are associated with a martial arts school or studio.
