The Resident’s Hall Association hosted their annual big spring semester welcome back event Tuesday night at the University Center Ballrooms.
Bearlagio, a casino-style event, held multiple kinds of poker games where students were able to participate for free. Blackjack, Texas hold’em and roulette were some of the many games where students had the ability to win as many poker chips as they could.
Each poker chip’s value equaled the number of tickets a student could get. Students then would be able to use their tickets and bid on the many different prizes the event had to offer.
Jessica Young, the social and traditional events coordinator, produced the event.
“Money is fake, but the fun and prizes are real,” Young said.
Gabby Reese, a junior studying exercise science, is a new student this school year. Reese enjoys going to the school events.
“I think these events are great for new students like myself because they allow me to reach out and meet new people,” she said. “It also allows me to have new experiences at the school.”
The RHA’s goal is to help build a stronger school community through engaging and fun events where students can interact to get to know more people. RHA aims to bring a more welcoming environment to the school.
