UNC Welcomes New President The University of Northern Colorado is excited to welcome Andrew “Andy” Feinstein, Ph.D. as our thirteenth president, effective July 9, 2018.
President Feinstein’s proven leadership, commitment to collaboration and transparency, and demonstrated success advancing student achievement made him a stand out candidate for UNC’s next leader.
Even before his official tenure began, President Feinstein visited campus numerous times to get to know his new community. He immediately met with students, as well as faculty, staff, alumni and donors, to share his background and hear their perspectives regarding what UNC needs today and tomorrow. His engaging personality set the tone for a president who will be both assertive and committed to the community that he leads and serves.
President Feinstein joins UNC from San Jose State University where he served as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. Prior to San Jose State, President Feinstein held various faculty and administrative positions at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In his first email to the campus community, President Feinstein shared:
“I am humbled, honored, and very excited by the opportunity to serve as the next president. During the search process, my wife and I fell in love with the university community and the city of Greeley. I look forward to building on the outstanding reputation of UNC and to leading the campus through the completion of a comprehensive campaign that will provide resources for future generations of UNC Bears. Especially meaningful for me is that I will continue serving a public institution of higher education that recognizes and supports the potential of each student, including many who are first in their families to attend college. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone I have met thus far, and I look forward to engaging with all of you very soon.”
