Groundbreaking

October 25, 2016

We’re breaking new  ground on student success and we need you to continue building the momentum.

Led by the spirit of UNC’s Pride of the Rockies Marching Band, more than 300  members of the university community turned out to turn dirt during the October 22 ceremonial  groundbreaking for the new Campus Commons  – including a surprise visit by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. The day  was truly monumental!

“Monumental is a great word for what we celebrate today, we are, after all,  breaking ground on UNC’s signature new building, the Campus Commons,” shared  President Kay Norton.

President Norton, along with campus and student leadership, marked the  occasion by expressing gratitude for the legislative and community  investments which will ensure the Commons is built by December 2018.

“I want to say thank you for investing in the future of education at  UNC,“ said President Norton. "The Campus Commons will be the  intersection of many interests, all of which vital to the university. It will  create meaningful connections. It will be an integrated student support hub;  a gateway for campus visitors; and a modern space for our world-class arts  programs.”

Commemorate the celebration and help UNC build momentum with your gift to the Campus Commons Performance Hall Seat Campaign. Announced during  the ceremony, the seat campaign offers you an opportunity to name one of 600  new performance hall seats. It is your chance to be a part of campus history  and leave your mark on this monumental occasion.
