Every fall, faculty, staff and faculty emeriti have an opportunity to make a contribution to their favorite area of campus through a giving campaign known as Team UNC.
Thanks to the support of a generous donor this year, new gifts made through Team UNC were matched 1:1, doubling the impact on the university.
Each year, hundreds of employees step up to make gifts during the Team UNC campaign, adding to the support that they already provide to UNC students through their roles as educators and administrators. This year, 359 faculty, staff and faculty emeriti made gifts through the Team UNC campaign. Together, they gave more than $100,000 to the university, making this the most successful Team UNC campaign yet!
“I think it is important to give back to the community that made such a difference for me. I started my philanthropy during a Team UNC campaign using the 1:1 gift match, knowing that my gift would be doubled,” says Career Counselor Elizabeth Mahoney. “I give my Team UNC donation to the Bear Pantry because I want to make sure that our students don’t have to worry about where they are going to get their next meal.”
UNC employees are proud to give back and support the important work that occurs on campus every day.
“As an educator, I want my commitment to student well-being to encompass their life outside of the classroom as well. Our contributions, however big or small, create a support structure for our current students, as well as encouraging prospective students to pursue their academic journey at UNC,” says Assistant Professor Ather Zia.
