Descriptive Guide to Michener Library Lower Level

Locations Accessible from Michener Library Lower Level Lobby

Outside the Library Entrance

Directions to these locations start at the Disability Resource Center (DRC, in office L80). Leave the DRC, turn right, and proceed straight to reach the locations listed below.

• Stairs to Michener Library First Floor Lobby

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Turn right at the corner to access the stairs.

• Womens Restroom

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass the stairs to the Michener Library first floor lobby. Proceed straight through an open area with tables and chairs. Turn right and proceed down a short hallway.

• Entrance to Michener Library Lower Level

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass the stairs to the Michener Library first floor lobby and an open area with chairs. Turn right. Proceed straight through the doors. (Doors are open when the library is open.)

• Lactation Pod

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass the stairs to the Michener Library first floor lobby and an open area with chairs. Turn slightly to the right. Pass the entrance to the Michener Library lower level on the right. The lactation pod is directly ahead.

• Mens Restroom

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass the stairs to the Michener Library first floor lobby and an open area with chairs. Turn slightly to the right. Proceed straight, past the lactation pod on the left. The mens restroom is directly ahead.

• Water Fountain

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass the stairs to the Michener Library first floor lobby and an open area with chairs. Turn slightly to the right. Proceed straight, past the entrance to the Michener Library lower level on the right. The water fountain is directly ahead. It has a water bottle filler.

Inside the Library Entrance

From the DRC, turn right, proceed straight, and pass the stairs to the Michener Library first floor lobby and an open area with chairs. Turn right. Proceed straight through the doors. (Doors are open when the library is open.) From here you can reach several destinations that are part of Michener Library. The list starts with the locations nearest the doors, first to the left, then to the right.

On the Left

Government Publications Area

Go through the doors and pass the service desk on the left. Turn left. The entrance to Government Publications is directly ahead. There are study tables throughout the room.

Within the Government Publications Area

• Publications

  From the entrance of the Government Publications area, proceed straight. Publications are on the left.

• Chin Multipurpose Room

  From the entrance of the Government Publications area, turn right and proceed straight. Pass display cases along the wall on the right. Turn left at the back wall and proceed straight, through an open area with tables and chairs. The entrance to the Chin Multipurpose Room is on the right.

• Computers

  From the entrance of the Government Publications area, turn right and proceed straight. Pass display cases along the wall on the right. Turn left at the back wall and proceed straight, an open area with tables and chairs. Pass the entrance to the Chin Multipurpose Room on the right. There are computers directly ahead, and around a pillar to the left.

On the Right

• Stairs to first floor of Michener Library

  Go through the doors and turn right. The stairs are on the left.

• Archives & Special Collections (L119)

  Go through the doors and turn right. Pass the stairs on the left. Archives & Special Collections is directly ahead.

• Elevator

  Go through the doors and turn slightly to the left. Proceed straight. The elevator is directly ahead.

Other Locations on the Lower Level of Michener Library

Directions to these locations start at the Disability Resource Center (DRC, in office L80). 

• Classroom L108

  Leave the DRC and turn right. L108 is ahead on the other side of the hall.

• Lindou Auditorium (Classroom L110)

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass classroom L108 on the left. Lindou Auditorium is ahead on the left.

• SOAR / Student Academic Success

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass the Michener Library lobby area on the right and Lindou Auditorium on the left. Continue straight. The SOAR office / Student Academic Success is ahead on the left.

• East Side Restrooms

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass the Michener Library lobby area on the right and Lindou Auditorium on the left.  Continue straight to the end of the hall, passing the SOAR / Student Academic Success office on the left. Turn right.  The restrooms are just ahead on the left (first the mens room, then the womens room).

• East Side Entrance

  Note: This entrance is near Campus Recreation, McKee Hall, and student housing.

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass the Michener Library lobby area on the right and Lindou Auditorium on the left. Continue straight to the end of the hall, passing the SOAR / Student Academic Success office on the left. Turn right and proceed straight, passing the restrooms on the left. The east entrance is just ahead on the left.

• IM&T

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass the Michener Library lobby area on the right and Lindou Auditorium on the left. Continue straight to the end of the hall, passing the SOAR / Student Academic Success office on the left. Turn right and proceed straight, passing the restrooms and the east entrance on the left. The IM&T office is just ahead, in the southeast corner.

• Classroom L174

  Leave the DRC and turn right. Pass the Michener Library lobby area on the right and Lindou Auditorium on the left. Continue straight to the end of the hall, passing the SOAR / Student Academic Success office on the left. Turn right and proceed straight, passing the restrooms and the east entrance on the left. Turn right at the end of the hall. Classroom L174 is just ahead, on the right.

• Undergraduate Research & McNair Scholars / Honors Program

  Leave the DRC and cross the hall. Turn left. The Center for Honors, Scholars, and Leadership is just ahead on the right.

• West Side Womens Restroom

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. The womens restroom is across the hall.

• West Side Entrance

  Note: This entrance is near the football field and parking lots.

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. Proceed straight. The west entrance is ahead on the right.

• Classroom L0074

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. Proceed straight. Turn left into an alcove on the left. Classroom L0074 is on the right.

• West Side Mens Restroom

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. Proceed straight, passing the west entrance on the right. The mens restroom is on the right.

• Academic Effectiveness (L58-L59)

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. Proceed straight, passing the west entrance on the right. Continue to the end of the hall. Academic Effectiveness is ahead on the right.

• Extended Campus (L54)

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. Proceed straight, passing the west entrance on the right. Turn left at the end of the hall. Extended Campus is just ahead on the right.

• Instructional Design & Development (L50)

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. Proceed straight, passing the west entrance on the right. Turn left at the end of the hall. Pass Extended Campus on the right. Instructional Design & Development is just ahead on the right.

• CETL (Center for Enhancement of Teaching & Learning, L21)

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. Proceed straight, passing the west entrance on the right.  Turn left at the end of the hall. Pass Extended Campus and Instructional Design & Development on the right. CETL is just ahead on the right.

• Classroom L0073

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. Proceed straight, passing the west entrance on the right. Turn left at the end of the hall. Classroom L0073 is on the left.

• McNair Scholars Lounge (L75)

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. Proceed straight, passing the west entrance on the right. Turn left at the end of the hall. Continue straight, passing Classroom L0073. The McNair Scholars Lounge is on the left.

• Center for Human Enrichment (CHE, L115-L118)

  Leave the DRC and turn left. Turn left again at the corner. Proceed straight, passing the west entrance on the right. Turn left at the end of the hall. Continue straight, passing Classroom L0073 and the McNair Scholars Lounge. CHE is on the left.
