Descriptive Guide to Michener Library Third Floor

Please note that the third floor is the quiet study floor.

Locations on the third floor of Michener Library are listed below, starting as users reach the top of the stairs. The list starts with the locations nearest the stairs, first to the left of the stairs, then to the right.

On the Left

• Study rooms

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a chair. Turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight. The three study rooms are on the right.

• Michener Stacks G-HQ

  Turn left and proceed straight. At the corner, turn left. Proceed straight. The shelves are just ahead.

• Study Room 351

  Turn left and proceed straight. At the corner, turn left. Proceed straight. The shelves with call numbers G through HQ are just ahead. Turn right at the shelves and proceed straight. Please note that there are step stools at the end of some rows. At the end of the shelves, turn left. Proceed straight. Study room 351 is just ahead, in the corner. The door is slightly to the left.

• Michener Stacks HQ-LB

  Turn left and proceed straight. At the corner, turn left. Proceed straight. The shelves with call numbers G through HQ are just ahead. Turn right and proceed straight. Please note that there are step stools at the end of some rows. At the end of the shelves, turn right. Additional shelves with call numbers beginning with HQ are ahead on the right. Past these are shelves with call numbers beginning with LB.

• Shelves for Oversize Books

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a chair; turn right after the alcove. The oversize bookshelves are on the left.

• Classroom 335

  Turn left and proceed straight. Classroom 335 is ahead. The door is slightly to the right.

• Michener Stacks LB-PS

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a chair; turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight, passing study rooms on the right. The shelves are just ahead. The shelves span the length of the third floor. This location is a little before the halfway point of the shelves. Call numbers beginning with LB are on the left. Call numbers beginning with PS are on the right.

• Restrooms and Water Fountains

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a chair; turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight, passing study rooms on the right. At the corner, turn right. At the next corner, just ahead, turn right. The womens restroom is on the right. The mens restroom is on the left. 

  There is a water fountain outside each restroom. The water fountain on the left has a water bottle filler.

  There is a gender-neutral restroom available on the first floor

• Elevator

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a chair; turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight, passing study rooms on the right. At the corner, turn right. At the next corner, just ahead, turn right. The elevator is ahead and slightly to the left, past the restrooms and water fountains, through a doorway.

• Study Room 360 (area of refuge)

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a chair; turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight, passing study rooms on the right. Proceed straight to the book shelves, then turn left. Please note that there are step stools at the end of some rows. Proceed straight to the end of the shelves, then turn right. Study room 360 is just ahead, in the corner. The door is slightly to the right.

On the Right

• Classroom 303

  Turn right and proceed straight. Classroom 303 is just ahead. Turn right at the classroom. The door is just ahead on the left.

• Michener stacks PS-QH

  Turn right and proceed straight to a wall. This is classroom 303. Turn left at the classroom. Proceed straight through an open area with tables and chairs. The shelves with call numbers LB-PS are just ahead. Turn right at the shelves. Proceed straight. Please note that there are step stools at the end of some rows. Turn right at the end of the shelves. Shelves with call numbers PS-QH are just ahead on the right. Shelves with call numbers beginning with PS are in this location. Shelves with call numbers beginning with QH are ahead on the right.

• Study Room 318

  Turn right and proceed straight to a wall. This is classroom 303. Turn left at the classroom. Proceed straight through an open area with tables and chairs. The shelves with call numbers LB-PS are just ahead. Turn right at the shelves. Proceed straight. Please note that there are step stools at the end of some rows. Turn left at the end of the shelves. Study room 318 is just ahead, in the corner. The door is slightly to the left.

• Michener Stacks QH-Z

  Turn right and proceed straight to a wall. This is classroom 303. Turn right at the classroom. Proceed straight. The shelves with call numbers QH through Z are just ahead. The shelves span the entire length of the floor. Call numbers starting with S are in this location. Call numbers starting with QH are on the left. Call numbers starting with T-Z are on the right.

• Study Room 327

  Turn right and proceed straight ahead to a wall. This is classroom 303. Turn right at the classroom. Proceed straight to the shelves with call numbers QH through Z. Turn left at the shelves. Proceed straight. Please note that there are step stools at the end of some rows. Turn right at the end of the shelves. Study room 327 is just ahead, in the corner. The door is slightly to the right.
