Events & Food for Student Organizations
It is strongly recommended that all Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) host 2 events per academic year that are free & open to all UNC students. Below is information on events and food. The main marketing tool that RSOs are required to use for event promotion is BearCave and the University Calendar.
Quick Links & Forms
- Submit this form at least 2-3 weeks in advance for your event. This form is for reserving spaces in the University Center, Campus Commons, tabling locations, academic buildings, outdoor spaces, and more.
- The Office of Student Organizations (OSO) can help organizations submit catering orders for events. This timeline offers a guide for planning.
- General information for ordering UNC catering can be found here, including menus. OSO recommends reviewing this information 2 months prior to planning the event.
One of many RSO privileges is mostly free space rentals throughout campus. Reserving spaces on campus are great for recurring meeting days/times, collaboration meetings, and hosting events. OSO can provide funding to cover room rental fees with a funding request submitted at the beginning of the semester. The Conference & Event Services department at UNC works closely with RSOs.
The Office of Student Orgs requires students to use UNC Catering for all events on campus.
If you are too close to your event & need catering, try Subway, Empire State Pizza, Einstein's Bagels, or any of the restaurants in the University Center. You can contact your Conference & Event Services (CES) staff to help coordinate order, or visit one of the restaurants.
RSOs are NOT ALLOWED to cook/prepare food themselves for events. This is a violation of UNC policy. Food for events must be prepared in a commercially licensed kitchen.
If you would like to host a bake sale, please contact OSO 2 weeks before.
OSO encourages student clubs to plan far in advance for all events.
