On Being a Bear

When you come to rely on the generous leadership of an individual, you know that you found someone special.  Allie will say this about many of the donors who choose to lead UNC through philanthropy, and in return many will say the same is true for Allie.

Allie grew up in Northern Colorado with childhood ties to UNC and a natural bent toward building a community of leaders.  As an undergraduate, she augmented her academic studies with leadership roles in her sorority Delta Zeta and the university’s student run program council. After graduation Allie began her career developing volunteers and donors for the American Cancer Society before her return to UNC in 2005. She first served as associate director of alumni relations, shortly thereafter was appointed UNC’s director of corporate and foundation relations, assistant vice president for development in 2011, then vice president for development and alumni relations in 2017. In 2019 President Feinstein announced that Allie would oversee a new division of university advancement, created by merging the divisions of development and alumni relations with university relations.

As Vice President, Allie oversees division leadership and serves as UNC's chief development and advancement officer which involves setting university development strategy, working closely with UNC’s principal donors and investors, and working alongside President Andy Feinstein to enhance donor investment and involvement in the university. In her role she helps inspired individuals seek out their passions through the support of UNC programs.  At times this work means moving donors to tears, but Allie believes ‘that’s when you know you got it right.’

Among her many accomplishments, Allie has built a team of advancement professionals who believe that the donor community is integral to ensuring that UNC remains a first choice university accessible to and supportive of all students.

Everyone who graduates from UNC did so with the help of someone – a faculty member, staff or fellow student. For many of our graduates, that help came from the support and leadership of a donor. And so, we invite individuals to invest in UNC because we believe that they can and want to make a difference for the next generation of Bears.
