Monfort College of Business' Entrepreneurship Challenge Applications Now Open Through Dec. 15
November 11, 2021
The University of Northern Colorado’s Monfort College of Business (MCB) Entrepreneurial Challenge is a unique startup venture competition for students and community members to gain real-world experience while developing their ideas. Compared to other events that are simple pitch competitions, participants learn to develop their entrepreneurial skills. Applications are now open through Dec. 15, for the Open, Greeley and Collegiate Divisions.
For the second year, Greeley entrepreneurs who are ready to pre-launch, or are at an early stage in a startup venture that began operation within the past two years can apply. The Greeley division was added to encourage entrepreneurship in UNC’s community and provide valuable skills to entrepreneurial ideas that will directly benefit Greeley. Colorado-based entrepreneurs who are ready to pre-launch or in early-stage startup can enter the Open Division.
Participants will receive education, knowledge and advice from industry experts and an opportunity to compete for a share of $50,000 in prize money. Finalists from previous years are not eligible to apply.
The Greeley and Open Division applications must be completed and submitted by Dec. 15.
The Collegiate Entrepreneurial Challenge, open to students enrolled at UNC or any Colorado community college, creates an entrepreneurial culture by encouraging students to develop their ideas, launch businesses and gain unique skills that come from participating in the challenge. Participants will receive expert opinions, professional advice and an opportunity to compete for scholarships to UNC. Students may participate as an individual or as a team. A team entry can consist of two to five eligible students. Students who have a business idea or an existing business are encouraged to apply.
“Developing entrepreneurial skills is valuable for everyone. The skills you learn in this event will help you be successful if you are an entrepreneur, own your own business or a member of team working for a large corporation,” said Dallas Everhart, Director of the eChallenge at UNC.
Collegiate Division applications must be completed and submitted by Dec 15.
Semi-finals for all three divisions will be held on Feb. 9 and the finals will be held on March 9.
