UNC to Host Education Summit for Parents Aug. 31

The University of Northern Colorado will host a family engagement event aimed at parents to foster dialogue and develop action steps related to achieving access, equity and opportunities in education.

The event, expected to draw over 150 people, is from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.  in the University Center.

Featured presenters include District 6 Superintendent Deirdre Pilch, Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education President and former Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia, and UNC Assistant Vice President Tobias Guzmán. Sessions will include “College in Your Backyard,” a discussion of post-secondary options in Greeley; and “What Parents Need to Know to be More Effectively Involved in Their Children’s Education.”

A group of UNC faculty and staff helped create the Grassroots Greeley-Evans Summit, a partnership with District 6, the Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition, and Lift One Lift All organization. To learn how to get involved, contact jtijerina@greeleyschools.org
