Thanks to the generous support of UNC alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff, and community members, the 2022 Giving Bearnanza (Nov. 29 through Dec. 6) raised more than twice the funds as the prior year’s campaign. Notably, just shy of $8,000 was donated to UNC’s feature fund, the Student Emergency Support Fund. This fund provides financial awards to students facing unforeseen crises and had been depleted prior to this year’s campaign. Thanks to donor support, UNC will be able to begin awarding these funds to students again immediately.
Marty Somero, Director of the Office of Financial Aid said: “We can’t thank our donors enough for these life altering donations. It is simply incredible the difference these funds can make in a student’s ability to stay enrolled and keep moving towards graduation. We all know that best laid plans can go astray and that unplanned life events happen. Having these funds to help UNC students when they are thrown an unforeseen curve really does make the difference in keeping the goal of graduation a reality vs. having to drop out.”
Thank you to all the members of Bear Country that came together during the Bearnanza campaign to directly and immediately support UNC students! If you still want to make your year-end contribution to UNC, visit www.give2unc.org/year-end.
